All rights reserved.Ralphs is a Southern California grocery chain, the oldest such retail business west of the Mississippi River having been founded by George Albert Ralphs in 1873. It was a respected and even beloved name in the area until the company started changing hands in 1994. Four years later, it became part of the Kroger conglomeration of supermarket brands and, in this author’s opinion, has never been the same even though it continues to be SoCal’s top-earning grocer.
