Canadian country-folk legend Stompin’ Tom Connors died Wednesday at the age of 77. A few days earlier, the musician penned a letter to fans that he wanted published after his death, his spokesman said. Here is a copy of the letter published on the singer’s official website:
“Hello friends,
I want all my fans, past, present, or future, to know that without you, there would have not been any Stompin’ Tom.
It was a long hard bumpy road, but this great country kept me inspired with its beauty, character, and spirit, driving me to keep marching on and devoted to sing about its people and places that make Canada the greatest country in the world.
I must now pass the torch, to all of you, to help keep the Maple Leaf flying high, and be the Patriot Canada needs now and in the future.
I humbly thank you all, one last time, for allowing me in your homes, I hope I continue to bring a little bit of cheer into your lives from the work I have done.
Sincerely,
Your Friend always,
Stompin’ Tom Connors”

Beautiful Classical Music on the web

If any of my readers are ever in the mood for this type of music, I think KING-FM in Seattle is one of the six best over-the-air classical radio stations in North America that also streams online. For those that might have tried it in the past, it is now a non-commercial station.Let me take this opportunity to once again make a plug for the Radio page on my long-form blog at KoHoSo.us. This features a sort-able and searchable table of links listing over 170 music radio stations of many formats that stream online. I believe these are the best commercial and non-commercial stations to be found anywhere and proof that radio can still be good if it is done right.
